FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

LISTENING TO A LIVE BROADCAST

I can't get your station to play on my computer.

Listening to ArtistFirst Internet Radio requires Windows Media Player But, you probably already have it on your computer!  Most Windows-based PCs made since 1998 already have Windows Media Player installed as part of the Windows operating system.  Or, you can click here to download and install the Windows Media Player program.
Other reasons that you may not be able to listen could be due to a restriction on your Internet service or computer by your computer's administrator (most commonly a problem for people who want to listen at work).  A loyal listener sent us this link.  He claimed it help him get around his office's settings.  But use only at your own risk.

LISTENING TO ARCHIVES OF PAST SHOWS

How long does it take for Archives to be posted to the site?

Typically, archived shows are posted to our site within 2 - 3 days after the show has aired.  Occasionally, shows will take longer to be posted due to errors during the recording process of the live show or other hardware / Internet issues.

I can't get my archived show to play on my computer.

Many people experience problems listening to our archive files due to bad settings for software on their computer.  We recommend using Windows Media Player.  Since you need it to listen to our live broadcasts anyway.  Make sure Windows Media Player is set as your default program to play MP3s and that it is able to connect to the net, and you should have no problem.
Or... you could try right-clicking on the link to the show and clicking "Save Target As..." or something of that nature.
If these suggestions don't work, you could try using a different Internet browser program, or trying to download the show from a different computer.

If you've tried these methods above and still have no success, please contact us and let us know which archive (meaning the name of the guest and the page on which the link is located) that you are having trouble with.  We will check for problems on our end and get back to you.

I would like to post a link to my show to my site or MySpace page.  Is that okay?

Yes.  In fact, we encourage our show's guests to post links to their shows at their own sites.  However, we only host the archives on our site for  6 months, after which we remove the shows from our site.  So after 6 months, any links to old shows may become inactive.  Therefore it is up to the artist to host the archived show after the 6 month period.
(This does not apply to weekly shows.  Please see below for information regarding weekly show archives.)

I'm a big fan of the _______ weekly show on ArtistFirst.  I have downloaded copies of the show.  Can I upload them to my site so other people can download them from me instead?

No.  Please do not host copies of weekly shows at your own site unless you were the guest on the show or the show's host.  Instead, please provide a link to the ArtistFirst page where the most recent archives of that show may be found.

I was looking for a copy of the ______ show that aired over 6 months ago.  Do you still have it?

No, sorry.  We don't host shows for much longer than 6 months on our site.  If you would like a copy of a show that is older than 6 months, please contact the show's guest or host (if the host was someone other than an ArtistFirst DJ).

SCHEDULING A GUEST FOR A SHOW

How can I become a guest for an ArtistFirst interview?

Click on the Bands Wanted or Authors Wanted link on our homepage and follow the instructions on the page.

I'm a manager / promoter / friend of _______ and I would like to get my client's / friend's music featured on ArtistFirst.

Click on the Bands Wanted link on our homepage and follow the instructions.

I'm not really an author or a musician.  I'm an artist / filmmaker / producer.  Can I be on ArtistFirst?

Yes.  Click on the Authors Wanted link on our homepage and follow the instructions.  (Our Authors-First hosts also double as the hosts of shows that don't fit  perfectly into the Bands or Authors categories.)

I'd like to submit my music to ArtistFirst.  Where do I send it to?

Click on the Bands Wanted link on our homepage and follow the instructions.  However, we get thousands of promotional packages from bands who would like us to play their music each year, and not every promo will make it to be played over our station.  Bands that come on ArtistFirst for an interview have a much greater change of success at getting their music featured on our station's daily rotation.

I would like to do a show, but I don't want to donate to your station.

Then go somewhere else.  Our featured specials with artists are done by volunteer DJs.  And our station is run by mostly volunteer musicians.  So our station really does run on the donations made by our show's guests.  If you feel that you shouldn't need to donate to our station in order to be featured for a 1-hour interview, we invite you to look elsewhere for an offer like ours.
